The beer is of fantastic quality with an amazing selection. The staff were well mannered and served with a smile. With this in mind, it was a very retro/old fashion atmosphere where a casual drink or a slightly larger occasion could both be on the cards. As an overall, the best pub within the small town of newmarket i would say! Furthermore, i would fully reccomend it to all seeking a welcoming environment.

The Old Cannon Brewery, Bury St Edmunds
After booking a few weeks back I found the atmosphere very congenial after a spell of terrible weather, my room was nicely prepared and was more than welcoming. After visiting the lovely town, I came back for dinner where the prices were well priced and above all, cooked to an abundant standard. BUT, and this is where it took a spiral downwards. After the meal myself and my wife stayed for a drink and found not only the service to be some what slow but the the brewery standard a let down to say the least. After speaking to a customer is was supposedly the norm of recent and although it was a lovely stay, the beer and the service was well below par.

The Dove, Bury St Edmunds
After an unsteady start from the lovely town of Bury i was recommended here from a few friends and boy was i pleased. They offer a variety of ales with great depth and taste. Unlike the very few that try to compete within the town, the Dove offers great customer service and beer that tastes like it should! I hear there is a new place opening up in Bury so watch out, but for now you are most definately on the top of my list for a stop off when passing through....
