Stokes and Moncreiff, Twickenham

There's more atmosphere in the Imperial College physics laboratory vacuum chamber. After 5 minutes you can feel the very life force being sucked out of you. What were they thinking?

The Prince Blucher, Twickenham

Nice friendly pub with friendly, efficient and attentive staff serving a good range of beers. Food is good, if not spectacular but then it's a pub, if you want fine dining go to a top end restaurant, more than adequate. The only thing that lets it down is that at the weekends and in the summer months it turns into a bit of a creche with out of control kids running around while their parents completely abdicate any sense of responsibility for the behaviour of their offspring. That's not really the pubs fault I suppose, it's a family pub with a playground area so you can't expect an adult only environment, but it would be nice if the parents would at least show some consideration for their fellow patrons. The rest of the time, it's great.

The Sussex Arms, Twickenham

Great selection of beers, even the lagers are esoteric. Good atmosphere and charming cosy decor. However, let down by frequently filthy glasses and bar staff who, although perfectly pleasant, habitually serve the closest person to them on finishing with another customer leaving those who may have been standing at the bar for far longer (but are less vocal) ignored. Annoying in a pub which otherwise deserves to be busy for its plus points. The music played is a great mix of genres but why on earth during a quiet mid-week the owner frequently feels an urge to turn it up to conversation drowning levels in the back room when people were sitting there because it's a good place to have a chat is beyond me. A decent enough pub which could be great but frustratingly let down by faults which would be easy to fix if the owners cared to do so.
