The Mansion House, Kennington

I wish BITE would remove the blurry crappy main first photo. Its way outdated now, looks completely different, and is soooo yesterday.

The Mansion House, Kennington

[Reopened NOT CLOSED]
Being local, this has to be my favourite pub of all time for the memories and good times spent in here.

Closed for six years, disappointingly I thought never to be reopened as a pub again. But as recently as three weeks ago I noticed it had been opened, and almost as if it had sprung-up overnight, I had no idea!

It has been massively refurbished, literally from scratch. It has a large multi-wood panelled window front, with central entrance doors that lead towards a beautiful long bar that houses pumps for quality handcrafted real ale's of various strengths, popular well known branded beers, lagers and ciders. My personal favourite is the Krombacher Weizen - a wheat beer.

The interior design is in keeping with pleasant upmarket bars elsewhere in London

The new Oaka at Mansion House also has a restaurant/dining area that serves Pan Asian Cuisine ~ Thai Curry dishes with rice and much more on their menu.
The food incidentally was excellent, albeit modestly portioned, and a bit on the expensive side for what you get. However, that is my only criticism of the wonderful new Mansion House, and comes highly recommended by myself.

I have uploaded some images of the modern Oaka at The Mansion House, as pictures say more than words

The Old Red Lion, Kennington

Nice pub, shame no wheat beer on draught. The food was good and reasonably priced.

The bar staff are nice and friendly apart from the young female prat behind the bar that is a bit too far up her own backside that likes to think she kind of runs things here. Known the pub for years and never known such a stuck up prat.

That aside, its pleasant enough.

Would have given at least 7 if not for the aforementioned individual.

Will come back and post an update when she leaves to make room for the needed improvement.

The White Hart, Kennington

Now called the Tommyfield as in the images provided.

Its a pleasant enough place to drop in for a pint. My usual reason for visiting is one of my fave beers Erdinger. The food is expensive for what you get, for instance the steak @ 17 comes with EITHER chips OR salad. If it was served with mushrooms and other veg I might have tried it sometime, but at those prices for such bland servings, I prefer to dine elsewhere in some very good places nearby.

The Prince of Wales, Kennington

Friendly hospitable bar staff, clean and well run, in one of the nicer parts of Kennington. As previous reviews have mentioned ~ when you are inside you wouldn't think you were in Kennington. It has a nice clientelle.

The food is good, although I wish the menu was expanded on a little more.

It has recently been given a much deserved major refurb inside, that has pleasantly brought it up-to-date, without losing the character it has always had.

I have been using this pub (albeit on and off) since 1973, but more frequently in recent years, and my continued custom is assured.

I have uploaded some images of the refurbished interior for this websites visitors perusal.

The Black Prince, Kennington

Known this pub for decades but never used it because it looked a bit of a tatty old dump. But I used it following the reccommendation of a friend on Thurday evening, and I was pleasantly surprised. Had a nice pint of John Smiths and a bottle of Prosecco with 2 burger meals with the wife.

Don't know what it was like previously, but it clearly had a revamp, and was very pleasantly decorated, and retained a good traditional pub atmosphere that often gets lost with modern revamps.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definately use it again, most likely for Sunday roast.

Pleased to have discovered this pub for what it is now, which has been brought up to a decent standard in a local area where pubs have only changed for the worse. I hope to bring my camera and submit some images very soon.

Only just refurbished, not entirely complete at the time of submitting this review, but looks good so far.
