Simply fantastic. Great choice of ales, magnificent pies with choice of gravy.

It does get very hot, particularly downstairs. And you can get the odd loony.

Prices are high, staff a little surly, and they close at 10pm on a Sunday. Beer choices very limited - some organic nonsense, some creamy Pedigree (special edition apparently) and occassionally Gem. Is it a gastro pub or a drinkers' pub? Not sure it really knows.

The Alehouse, Bath

Great little boozer. Selection of ales a trifle limited but well kept - Gem, Courage Best and Pride. Filling lunchtime snacks. Friendly staff.
