The Fox and Hounds Restaurant & Bar, Englefield Green
Visited between Christmas and New Year. Great location, food very generous and beer fine. Somehow lacked a bit of atmosphere and not helped by family with screaming toddler parked near the bar who was clearly annoying us and other customers. Sadly no evidence of the attitude to kide noted by bessyjo2 some months age!

I hope I'm wrong but - tables all set with wine gasses and a 'smart casual' dress code. This doesn't sound much like a pub for lunches on walks any longer.

Visited with rentaquote who forgot to mention friendly bar staff and excellent dessert!
In fact we loved the place so much on Saturday evenng that we came back on Sunday for lunch in their lovely garden.

The Plough Inn, South Ealing
Fast becoming a favourite for us. Great beer (wide range of Fullers plus others), nice atmosphere, good food, efficient friendly young bar staff.
But loses a point for sticking a reserved sign on the coffee table by the fire - what IS that about?
