The Red Lion, Hockley,jewellry quarter

The Red Lion is a tremendously fab, friendly pub in the jewellery quarter. During the excellent refurbishment last year, the landlord restored all the original victorian features and combined these with modern touches. The Club Room upstairs has a unique ambience and the stylish artwork adds to its visual appeal. The food is excellent, both in terms of quality and value. This pub has the magical quality of combining high class food with the finest beers and ales, all against the background of a perfect friendly pb atmosphere.

The Lord Clifden, Birmingham

National recognition for the Lord Clifden, the pub was featured in last Saturday's Guardian, fantastic news.

The Lord Clifden, Birmingham

Here's me thinking it was Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen, showcasing his limited collection interiors. Only a matter of time before the staff are wearing leather trousers, starched shirts with ruffled cuffs and fuschia hunting jackets and the like! And that will be the time to call Gok in from Channel Four. Ha ha.

I have been drinking the Bathams ever since it was introduced at the Clifden. Its always been a superb pint. Been drinking it this weekend. Beowulf come back and give it a go without the bad taste in your mouth. You will not be disappointed, I can guarantee that.

The Lord Clifden, Birmingham

Definitely the best bar in Birmingham. I have been a regular for six years, the new refurbishment is an absolute dream. The stylish interior has a contemporary, highly polished look without feeling pretentious. The food is of a consistently high standard and good value, portions are definitely on the generous side. Sunday lunch here is a must. Excellent bottled and draught beers. My friends travel all the way from Leeds for the Erdinger! The beer garden is fab for parties, ask the landlord (Graham) to get the decks on for you. The Cliffo (as its affectionately known) has acquired that rare gift of appealing to all sorts of people, foodies, drinkers and super cool young types just hanging out. You are guaranteed to have a top night here, just wish I could remember all of mine!
