The Seven Stars, Chancery Lane

In mid-week at 7:30 for a quick couple of excellent pints - very quiet. Great beer but expensive (Harveys 3.10). Loads of character, friendly. Apparently the food is excellent and won the 2008 Good Pub Guide award for London.

The Tyburn, Marble Arch

A standard, London Wetherspoons. It's like the McDonalds of the pub world - consistent, reliable and cheap. Plenty of real ales available, and usually well kept. Standard food. I've been in some much better 'spoons pubs elsewhere in the UK.
In this area you can do better & you can do (much) worse. So if you don't know where else to go, you can always rely on Wetherspoons :o)

The Quebec, Marble Arch

No real ales. More a meeting place than a pub.

The Bricklayer's Arms, Marble Arch

Well I'm a Northerner, and the prices seem OK to me! Visited 3 times recently (mid-week), always a good choice of ales and I've not had a bad one yet. Atmosphere is welcoming and usually not too busy. Will continue to visit when I'm in the area.

The Anglesea Arms, Chelsea

Went last night (Tuesday), about 9pm. Was still busy (nice buzz), but a couple of tables free inside. 6 ales - tried 2, both excellent. Food was good quality, interesting menu but not trying to be a restuarant. Paid 10.95 for a main course. Good wine list. Staff (lady) was very helpful & polite. Some noisy show-offs but they were outside. Would certainly return when I'm staying in this area.
