The Albion, Crewe

This pub has changed its name twice since Bar 22. It is now back to its original name- The Albion.

Royal Oak, Worleston

Off the beaten track and out of town, there were three decent cask ales on at the time of my visits. good food, very friendly, take a stop to call in here.

Rising Sun, Wistaston

There is a sign along the road outside, just before you get to the Rising sun coming from Nantwich...it is the sign for WISTASTON, so it is clearly IN Wistaston. This pub is not part of Chef and Brewer anymore and as stated below it is old English Inns, four cask ales on, and at the times of my visits all ales were in good form, mostly from Green king as you would expect. This 'pub' is 95% food outlet, and good food, but there is absolutely no where seperate to sit just for the drinker! every table is seeminlgy just for eaters. A great pub all the same, and it was mentioned in the 'doomsday' book as an Inn in the parish of.....Wistaston!

Woodside, Crewe

As said before..good pub, good food, friendly....but still no cask ales.

The Express, Crewe

Well worn pub is a good description for this pub, this could be one of the best pubs in the area if only the time, money and effort was put into it. There now seems to be a handpump on the bar, but it was not in use at the time of my visit, it had a Boddingtons clip on it and the staff did say it was arriving soon...so as Boddingtons is no longer boddingtons we wont hold our breath. Friendly enough to visit.

The Albion, Crewe

Ever changing keepers of this once great pub...when it was called the Albion. Garish colour scheme to the outside of this pub which is now called 'woody's'...for gods sake! no decent beer at time of visit.

The Last Orders Inn, Crewe

Cheap beer NO REAL ALE, rough and ready, not worth a visit.

Corner Bar, Crewe

Near to Crewe Railway station and part of the Royal hotel, the Corner bar has four cask ales on at most times, and mostly Salopian ales, all were good at the time of my visit as they were on my last couple of visits, a little expensive though, this is in part due to it being part of a hotel. Large room with TV's and a pool table off the main room, a raised little snug area is off the main room too. A friendly pub, worth a visit and very convenient to the station.

Gone...demolished

The Borough Arms, Crewe

I can understand some of the previous comments, and the landlord needs to take stock of himself for the sake of his visitors, he had a very unpleasant experience from a visitor once and he is very weary of them, and as regulars we know of the 'old git' that was mentioned in one review...he really is obnoxious old git! Once in the pub and sat down it IS a friendly pub, regulars and visitors all chat to each other, two big TV's in the main real ale bar where there are NINE cask ales on, the other part of the bar is all Belgium/continental beers and hundreds of bottled beers. There is also a large room downstairs where you will find an in-pub Brewery! large well kept garden out the back of the pub. Oppsite the kings Arms pub.

The Kings Arms, Crewe

A good multi roomed pub, pool room, lounge, snug and bar, well supported by regulars, and welcoming to visitors. A short walk over the railway bridge from the Crown pub. Usually three cask ales on, two from Beartwon Brewery. A true and proper pub.

The Crown, Crewe

Town center Robinsons pub, built in the ruabon red brick like most of old Crewe is. Three cask ales on, good atmosphere, friendly and welcoming. Live music on many weekends. Always a good story to be told when you talk to the old regulars in here.

The Angel, Crewe

Town center one roomed pub set below ground level, two real ales on from Oakwell, Barnsley Bitter is one, priced to compete with the Wetherspoons pub, food is local and is reasonably priced. The original Angel was where the gap was made for the precinct entrance is now. Worth a visit, even it is only in the afternoons.

Gaffers Row, Crewe

Another Wetherspoons pub, ale is good enough for a visit, set in the heart of the Town center.

Hops, Crewe

A very unique pub, set in the style of a Belgium bar. Furniture is from an old school or faith school, it really adds to the ambience and in its simplicity it makes this pub a not-to-be-missed pub. Five first class ales on, mostly from local breweries, one is a regular brewed for the pub. Many Belgium beers on draught, and hundreds of bottles to choose from. Very friendly pub, everyone is welcome, set just on the edge of the town Center sandwiched between the rebuilt giant Tesco store, and next to the old railway church.

The Duke of Bridgewater, Crewe

Great pub this one. A Marstons house, usually three real ales on. Comfortable corner pub on edge of the town center, not too far to walk from Crewe station and also on main bus route. Live Football, pool table etc. Worth a visit.

The British Lion (the Pig), Crewe

The long serving Landlord and Landlady left this pub. It is now being run by temprorary management, many locals complain thet the character of the pub has been changed, it has lost its uniqueness. The ales are hit and miss, mostly hit, obviously the Tetleys is not as good as it used to be because Tetley Brewery closed in Leeds. THIS PUB IS NOW FOR SALE, the asking price is a little too much, but we all hope a buyer can be found and keep this great pub going. Up to 5 ales are on, and there are price offers (see chalkboard outside)

Woodside, Crewe

Very much an estate pub, but friendly and busy, wide clientele mix. Good food, great outdoor areas. The only thing that lets it down...NO REAL ALE, despite there being three handpumps on the bar, they have not been used for more than three years. This is one reason many 'loyal' locals are now choosing to go the "Olde Manor" where the well kept real ale is less expensive than the sad john smiths smoothflow in the woodside.
