CLOSED. Due to Aldi buying it and shutting it down. Wanted to turn it into a supermarket, but didn't even apply for planning permission that would have been refused. Now up for sale.

The Earl is a fantastic pub. The seating and furniture is dated, and the overall decor isnt flawless, but this is a proper pub. You only have to set foot in the Earl on a Saturday afternoon to understand fully what this pub is about. The atmoshpere is simply electric. The passion that runs through the very spine of this pub is inexplicable. Yes, the decor is dated. Yes, the furniture is in need of repair, and Yes, the beer is occasionally poor, but that in no way takes anything away from this being the best Public house for miles around. The Earl is what England used to be before the politically correct had their way. The Earl isnt ashamed of itslef, the Earl isnt conscious about its appearance, the Earl is simply itself. a Great Pub.

Jennie Corner, sexy 18 year old BB housemate and recent inductee into the world of glamour modelling worked here before she was on TV. Fact.

Loved this pub before they refurbished it a few years ago - was a real spit and sawdust place, rough around the edges but had good beer and good atmosphere...shame.
