Belle Vue, High Wycombe

Still wycombe's best kept real ale secret. The addition of 2 extra pumps (now 6 in total) has reaffirmed this. All of which offer a great range of colour and strength and kept in tip top condition. The sat night live music of late has been of a high standard.

The Flint Cottage, High Wycombe

Has been taken over by the same people who run the Sausage Tree and is now called the Bootlegger.
Interior is now a lot smarter and 7 cask ales at 2.50 a pint has me hooked. If the prices stay at that level i'll be calling it my Local.

The Sausage Tree, High Wycombe

A good looking bar with a great selection of beers and a good menu. That's where the compliments end though. I was in with a friend and we both ordered a pint of London Pride - it was served at the same temperature as lager should be served.
The food looks very inviting but was disappointed to find that my bangers and mash had been served with gravy AND beans without being asked for my preference. One or the other please. I also had my suspicions that the mash came out of a packet. Great menu but executed poorly.
I thought that the beer was a bit on the expensive side, although I couldn't fault their selection of bottled beers - can't go wrong with them as long as the customer pours it themself.

The Lord Clifden, Birmingham

I always make a point of visiting this pub when I'm in the Birmingham area - even if It'm changing trains from New street to Snow Hill. The selection of ales on tap are great and well kept. The HPA is my personal favoutite but I also love the German wheat beers so I was really impressed then they had Maisell's weisse hefe weizen in bottles as it's my favourite German beer from Bayreuth, Paulaner is also on tap. I've eaten there a few times and would highly recommend the food - especially the ribeye steak when the chef has it in. Finally I'd like to say that the refurbishment has totaly transformed the pub, I certainly don't miss the Fagnolia stained walls and my feet sticking to the threadbare carpet and the art on the exposed brick wall adds to the Andy Warhol factory feel. Top Boozer
