Ye Old Stout House, Horsham

The Stout House used to be my regular Friday watering hole when I lived in Horsham, and it's one of the few pubs I have any kind of emotional connection to. I loved this place - the staff were always friendly, the service was great, and the location was awesome (literally stumbling distance to a cashpoint too!).
I've got so many great memories of this place that I haven't a hope in hell of writing an unbiased review, but I will say that if you're looking for a good night out with friends, conversation and damn good beer, then you'll be hard pressed to find a pub better than this in Horsham.
Only thing I'd complain about are the benches, which are almost guaranteed to ensure a healthy dose of piles in later life!

The Bell, Cannon Street

Tiny little pub off Cannon Street - looks a bit "spit and sawdust" from the outside, but inside it's quite pleasant. Very small, and tends to be pretty much full of other blokes, but the beer is excellent and reasonably priced, the staff are friendly, and it's rarely as packed as other venues in the area, so even if you can't get a seat, you'll still be able to enjoy your drink in comfort.

The Monument, Monument

Nice pub right next to London Bridge. Good selection of beers, plus they're not horribly expensive either. Food is pretty standard but good value and the service is quick and friendly.
Plenty of room in here, which makes a nice change - if you avoid the usual busy hours (noon to 2pm and 5-7pm) then you're pretty much guaranteed a seat.
Not a great deal of character, but a good choice for a Lunchtime pint.

The Vintry, Cannon Street

One of the most expensive pubs in the southern part of the City, but the beer is very well kept, the staff are friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is pretty good. Don't go in there for a quick pint if you're feeling hungry though. The smell of the griddles is almost too much to bear - as is the smoke when the ventilation isn't working properly. Plenty of seating too, which makes a change for City venues.
