Coach and Horses, Beaminster

A little update. Popped in again for a pint one evening, not a meal, but I must say the food in the restaurant looked rather nice, so might be worth trying again.

Rose and Crown, South Petherton

Lovely pub in a nice location. Get's very busy even lunch times. Had an average meal there. Was slightly annoyed I couldn't get chips rather than new potatoes with my duck without paying extra. On the whole a nice pub to visit.

The Portman Arms, East Chinnock

Went there for a drink one evening. seemed nice enough. Barmaid was friendly. Didn't try the food so can't comment on it.

The Thomas Hardye, Dorchester

Now called the Trumpet Major again. Not a bad pub, does a two for one on main meals offer. Had a reasonable steak there but nothing out of the ordinary.
Bit similar to a Weatherspoons type pub.

The Cat Head Inn, Chiselborough

I've been told this pub is now closed????

Muddled Man, West Chinnock

Quirky pub, quirky landlord. I really love it. Probably going to be my local from now on. Had a lovely evening there. You could go there on your own and not feel out of place. Lovely dog if you tickle its belly. :-)
The locals were very friendly. The beer was good. Yet to try the food but have high hopes as the landlord wants to please. 10/10 from me, and I'm fussy where I drink.

The Crown and Victoria Inn, Tintinhull

Been here a couple of times now and always had a nice meal. It's not cheap, but it is good. Well worth a visit. Definitely a foodie pub rather than a local
in my opinion.

The Carpenters Arms, Chilthorne Domer

Went here for lunch, was very pleasantly surprised with the changes as I hadn't visited this pub for a few years. Had a lovely steak and the prices weren't too bad at all. Very comfortable seating and very nice staff. It's a dog friendly pub as well which is nice. I will definitely be making further visits.

Coach and Horses, Beaminster

Went in for a quick dinnertime meal the other day and was disappointed with the meal I had. In fairness it was one of their cheap specials, the lasagna. It was dire I'm afraid, even the chips tasted horrible like they'd been microwaved.
Such a pity as the people there are very nice and they do a nice enough roast on Sundays. Hope they sort it out.

The Bell Inn, Broadway

Not a bad little pub, popular too. Cosy bar and a good pint. Food was reasonably good if a little pricey for some things like t-bone steaks. Enjoyed my visit. Lovely village.

White Lion Inn, Beaminster

Went here today, the first time in a year or two. Was very pleasantly surprised.
The food was very reasonably priced and excellent quality, good selection of meals too. Nice decor, pleasant staff, a good pint, all you could ask for really.
Dropped one point because there isn't much parking space outside the pub.

Popped in to try their Sunday Carvery. Wasn't bad at all. Good food and reasonable prices. Nice pub

Squirrel Inn, Chard

Went to the Squirrel with a friend today for a lunchtime pint and some food, was very disappointed to find the pub closed. This was on a Friday afternoon at 1pm !!! No notices to say why it was closed, a light was on but no one answered when I knocked the front door, but I'm sure someone was there.

I doubt I shall be going to this pub again as it's a bit out in the sticks anyway and if you can't rely on them being open why bother.

The Admiral Hood, Mosterton

Well it's open again. Pity they bothered. Still run down inside and out. The meal I had was not very good. The chairs looked like they were falling apart, they gave me a dirty place-mat.. yuck! Won't be going back any time soon.
Often see a few cars in the car park though, can only think it's first time customers?

The Windwhistle Inn, Chard

The Sunday Carvery here is pretty good. The meat is usually VERY nice and they give you plenty of it, but the veg can occasionally let it down. On the whole pretty good but other bar meals I've had there were nothing special.

Squirrel Inn, Chard

Nice friendly little pub, a bit out in the sticks. Foods not bad, but the decor looks a bit tired. Looks a little run down outside too.
They do a Sunday 'Carvery' for a fiver!!! The meat looked a bit dry and overcooked but I must say it tasted OK. Worth a look if your passing.

The Sun Inn, Dorchester

Had a very nice meal here today. It's a good pub in all respects, very clean and tastefully decorated, reasonable prices, and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The perfect country pub. The Carvery was excellent, and is available daily. Well worth a visit.
