The Lower Angel, Warrington

Brilliant pub. Quite traditional place, going back to the days of Walker's and later, with a great selection of ale (including their own micro brew). Would go as far as to say best in town.

Bridge Inn Hotel, Port Sunlight

Hadn't been here for a while. The Bridge has character, but getting tired and in need of some updating. Food is simple but good and offers value. Limited options for ale, and a bit disappointing. If your in the village its handy for a quick bite to eat.

The Feathers Hotel, Ludlow

Visiting Ludlow for the weekend, couldn't help but notice the posts about The Feathers. Having now tried a reasonable number of places in the town it was interesting to see how well this bar was reviewed (except for the last post?).

All I can say is that I have to agree 100% with the comments previously made. Whilst it is a hotel, and slightly more expensive (not much), it is a perfectly good venue, and in my opinion excellent.

To be honest, during this weekend I have experienced ale from poor to average to good. The Feathers prove to be very good.

I don't really understand the point of the previous post. The Feathers should be celebrated for what they're offering.

Keep up the good work. I look forward to another weekend away in Ludlow at some point.

The Church Inn, Ludlow

Visited the Church as I gather it is good for cask ale. To be honest the beer was fine, tried a pint of Boiling Well and Montys Mischief. Very disappointed by the service. The two young women behind the bar both seemed to have serious attitude problems, one very miserable, the other reluctant to serve! Not a great experience. Beer OK but disappointing overall.

Crown Posada, Newcastle

If your in Newcastle this is one of the best. Good selection of beers and atmosphere. Personally I prefer to try to go to the lounge ar the rear. I would happily spend a few hours in the Crown Posada.

The Marches, Ludlow

Tried The Marches for a drink this weekend. The place is OK, perhaps a little bland and without much inspiration. Upto 3 ale served. All seem to be kept well. Overall average.

The Guest House, Southport

Good pub which seems to offer well served beer, and the tasters given by staff was a nice touch. Worth a visit.

The Pilgrim, Liverpool

If your in the City worth a visit. Can get a bit noisy when busy, but generally find its good beer and prices. The place has its quirks but in an interesting way.

Had a really enjoyable visit. Seems to do everything well. Good beer and prices. If your in the area worth a visit.
