good beer but! felt very uncomfortable and the place needs a good lick of paint! dazza7a1 - 27 May 2007 09:53
I thought that the Wheatsheaf was a good boozer. The lager was excellent and the Hells angel barman was very friendly. There is a pool table and a couple of quiz machines, but I was mostly thankful for the TV so I could watch the Saturday afternoon football results come in. It wasn’t that busy compared with other pubs around the town centre, but I was very comfortable in there. Strongers - 3 Apr 2007 10:34
Not bad, drinks aren't that interesting but comedy evenings and gigs in the upstairs function room are generally good. Birdoman - 27 Jan 2006 19:53
Grim dive when I was a student, or at least the upstairs room was. The Bear is stone's throw away - head down the alley from the High, pass this place, and take a left. anonymous - 16 Jan 2006 11:05
That photo of the alley sums it up, great live music and have wicked bar staff, and the juke box wasn’t bad ether. beergood - 14 Dec 2004 02:12
