A 'Beefeater' pub specialising in food of course!! I think i tried a Doom Bar, all good.

This was no doubt a wonderful pub once - albeit in 1780. The building is atmospheric and there is a great upstairs room for functions (now criminally under used and without a working bar). One can almost imagine the cries of the stagecoachmen and whinnying of the horses as well as the tankards of frothing beer and enormous sides of beef in the pleasingly rambling interior.

Now, however, it's a Beefeater and has all the fruit machines, nobby's nuts and listlessness you could wish for. Great raw materials sadly wasted by the current owners - almost badly enough for legal charges to be pressed. Nonetheless, worth a visit.

I've visited the Mitre on a number of occaisions for convenience but I recently stopped by for lunch with my girlfriend. I found the food was pretty reasonable for a beefeater, the drinks well well poured and the staff provided an excellent service (the staff could not do enough for my girlfriend and myself).

Well done Mitre. A big thumbs up from me.

I liked this pub, we visited on a Saturday lunchtime when Oxford was rammed. Coffee and cream tea was the order of the day for our party of 8. The pub had a friendly air about it and the staff were a credit to the pub. Give them a pay rise!

Is a Beefeater but we found a quiet corner of the pub to drink in for a few hours and was an enjoyable afternoon
