I've visited the Mitre on a number of occaisions for convenience but I recently stopped by for lunch with my girlfriend. I found the food was pretty reasonable for a beefeater, the drinks well well poured and the staff provided an excellent service (the staff could not do enough for my girlfriend and myself). Well done Mitre. A big thumbs up from me. gandalf255 - 2 Aug 2010 19:55
I liked this pub, we visited on a Saturday lunchtime when Oxford was rammed. Coffee and cream tea was the order of the day for our party of 8. The pub had a friendly air about it and the staff were a credit to the pub. Give them a pay rise! wilf880 - 29 Mar 2010 08:23
Is a Beefeater but we found a quiet corner of the pub to drink in for a few hours and was an enjoyable afternoon welling01 - 3 Nov 2009 10:42
Griffo59 - Erm....in my opinion it's a decent pub in a lovely historic building. You happen to think it's ghastly and smelly (smells of what incidentally ?). Guess you'll just have to remain baffled as to why people who know the area would choose to drink in here. Grailhunter - 19 Aug 2009 13:13
Grailhunter: - "Forget using it as a restaurant, treat it as a pub." Erm... but it's awful as a pub OR a restaurant! There are so many great pubs in Oxford that it baffles me why people who know the area would ever eat or drink in this place. griffo59 - 18 Aug 2009 13:34
