This remains one of the finest pubs in the area. I have been drinking here for forty years and not a lot has changed. The place is warm, welcoming and traditional. There is a great selection of well kept real ale and an excellent bar menu and the landlady and staff are full of genuine charm and courtesy. An added bonus is that the old stable block attached has been converted and now serves excellent Thai food. On a cold winters day sat next to the open fire in the tap room with a pint is the closest you can be to heaven without dying. pedantnic - 22 Dec 2011 00:51 |
An absolutely excellent pub which is the nicest within walking distance of Chesham town centre. The pub offers a classy atmosphere and is well-kept. The service is always friendly, and the pub boasts a pleasant beer garden. Ideal for anyone who appreciates a nice, quiet atmosphere when going out to the pub. Pintdude - 23 Aug 2011 11:38
Consistently a good place to visit. Well mannered and knowledgeable staff. Offered taster glass of the ales on offer. Good ale selection and whisky menu. London Pride was spot on for temperature. Never appear hassled when busy. A credit to the team. Always clean and welcoming. Food is mainly Thai, from the next door restaurant (good, but nothing special for any Thai lovers) Pedros143 - 21 Aug 2011 11:30
Nice part of Chesham and a nice pub to accompany it. Didn't let it being a Fuller's house put me off. Old fashioned pub with Public Bar and other parts (though the public bar is a little 'faux'). Had a decent enough pint of Seafarers. Not birlliant but it is one of Chesham's better pubs. Snarling_Mallard - 9 Oct 2010 22:45
Polite, quick service and a lovely pint of ESB. Not cheap at £3.30 a go, but looking at the clientele I doubt that will bother them! ace1973 - 6 Oct 2010 10:40
