Wine-bar/ersatz beer-keller comment spot on. I made the mistake of leaving my card behind the bar during a works quiz night - they gave me a key as the tab which should have started alarm bells ringing really. £120 later and I was much wiser. Beer and lager both drinkable although utterly unpronouncable (just point and shout "BEE-EER please" like you've on holiday in Magaluf and you'll get served though) although I couldn't tell you how much either cost.

Strange place in that the barstaff and table-service guy appeared to be wearing dinner suits. Actually, that's probably what my money's been spent on.

This is OK, quite cheery, the supposedly own brand Old Wallop (apparently Courage Directors) is well kept and is fun from a pewter tankard. Not cheap but it is in the city. Not a real pub though - a wine bar done up in imitation beer cellar style like most of the Davy's chain.

not a bad pub.. usually attracts older clientele as the young back office boys are in corneys.... not much choice on the beers, but kept reasonably well.... good place to go for a quick decent lunch - as you might guess specialty is bangers and mash..... i go there for lunch a fair bit as i work nearby... staff are friendly

When I worked around here this was my favourite. Rather hidden away means it is less crowded than a lot of the other pubs in the area, and can usually get a table, where elsewhere you'd be lucky to get space at the bar. Good beer, tankards a pleasant novelty (although hide the enormous heads they serve on their proprietary 'Old Wallop' bitter), and solid food well priced for an area not known for its good value. Good wine list too. Worth seeking out.

A bit of a "theme" bar with the token sawdust and battered tankards (aluminium?) but pretty good beer. Too brightly-lit to be a proper bolt-hole, but a good attempt.
