user reviews of the Swan, Witham

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Just moved to Witham and went in this pub the other day. Seemed a nice pub with a good darts throw too (always good). Landlord seemed a pleasant guy. Will def go back even if its a bit of a walk from where i live.

Don't listen to that JTM guy, the IPA in the Swan is decent. Three things not to do in the Swan:

1. P*ss off the landlady
2. Stand in front of the TV when there's football on.
3. Try for a dump on a weekend night - the stall is usually in use by the resident Bolivian Marhcing Dust squad. My advice is to cr*p into the nearby river Brain.

Asides from those things its a good local boozer, pool and darts, some food.

The only reason I drink in here is because it's about 50 metres from my flat, just down from the town centre, opposite the leisure centre. The beer is undrinkable (on more than 5 separate occasions I've chanced the Ridley's and it's been like vinegar every time) and the lager is always flat. Still, Newcy Brown always comes out of the bottle OK, and it's full of friendly regulars. And it has a killer widescreen plasma telly.

I'd watch the footy here if you're in Witham, but I wouldn't bother otherwise, unless you live nearby...
