Nice place, well situated and has some great DJ nights downstairs, especially The Nitty Gritty on the second Sunday of the month. They play old soul, beat, garage, girl groups and ska and it attracts some eccentric but interesting, friendly people. Good to sit outside, either right next to the canal or on the upper deck, particularly in the evening.

Nice pub, but they wanted to charge us with an entry fee after we were already in because there was a gig downstairs (which was about to finish indeed).

P.s. If you fancy a walk along the Canal towards King's Cross, beware of a group of stupid kids who enjoy throwing water and tree branches while hiding behind a wall, 100 metres from the pub. It happened twice, guess they need some education, sooner or later.

Great pub, nice old landlady, great canalside beer garden and an assortment of dogs - which is always a good thing (except when they shit round the back). Nice Summer Solstice on tap last time I went. Off the beaten track, so hopefully not likely to be given the pine and beige treatment, but not rammed all the time so probably on the 'at-risk of being turned into yuppie flats' list. This kind of worry gives me a nervous breakdown.

really great pub, good real ale and the music bar is a sound idea. this type of place should be encoraged. but and its a big but.... allowing your kitchen staff to sell illegal dvd's is not cool. this money goes to seroius criminals or worse terror groups. think im exaggerating.. ask the old bill. i love this place but that should stop !

One or two locals with a far away look in their eye notwithstanding, this is a fine pub which is making an effort to attract people, despite its backstreet location. To hell in the Lock Tavern and its bouncers and crowds - this is a much better bet and right on the canal, too.
