Erith seems a bit short on choice for decent boozers.

I knew I would be ending my walk from London Bridge here. Last pub seen along the Thames was the Hope and Anchor near the Thames Barriers. This was 11:43am and closed, so to say I was in desperate need of refreshment was an understatement.

Planned ahead and seen this was the best rated pub in Erith. But what to expect? A den of inequity populated by roaring village idiots? A lesbian pub, patrolled by femi-nazis prone to taking lone ramblers hostage?

Neither, really. Horseshoe bar, solely populated by men of various ages sat on high stools doing what men everywhere at 3pm on a Saturday would do. Watching the scores come in. Reading the papers.

No real ales on - so would not choose to come here. A decent pint of stella for £3.80.

Probaly the best pub in Erith/slate green of the few left. Not because it's particularly good more the fact the others are awful.
No real ales last time I was there just smooth and your standard lagers. Big screens for football etc.
The comment about the landlady is right though.

Just needed a nice pub to kill a few hours in while I wait to drop a friend home who has to work late. Didn't read the reviews, just went to the to the highest rated pub in Erith. Lovely locals boozer with big screen football, friendly punters and cheap drinks. What more could anyone want?

I wouldn't necessarily take any notice of the last review, coincidentally it has was posted the morning after the local village idiot was ejected for his drunken behaviour. The landlady was merely protecting the reputation of her business when the alcohol with mental health issues was looking for trouble by provoking a more established secure gentleman and starting a fight for no reason at all.
The Ship as far as I'm concerned is a civil establishment frequented in the main by friendly folk.

What a shit hole with the most two faced gossip ever to walk the earth of a landlady.
