I went to Sand Bar for the first time last weekend and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Granted, the door staff didn't give me and my boyfriend the warmest of welcomes but once inside I thought the decor and music were cool, the cocktails were gorgeous and the bar staff really efficient and friendly. The only criticism I would make is that in all the time we were there no one came round to clear the glasses away which meant that there were a lot being knocked over and smashed. Overall though I really rated Sand Bar and I will definitely return.

Not only do you have to pay to get enter this jumped up excuse for a bar but once inside you have to deal with a bad DJ over priced drinks and a clientele who need to remove their heads from the butts. Not my idea of a good night out thats for sure!

Oh, Sand Bar, what has happened to you ?? I can remember having very decent food served on the ground floor, dancing and a proper demographic balance. Now, the ground floor is off limits, not conducive to meeting and greeting people and we've had to go upstairs to escape what often resembles Clapham's version of Coldharbour Lane. First floor members (though pretty much anyone can get in nowdays) is still supportable and it's still a fine venue for summer international football but it really does need a makeover and the original management need to come back, reclaim it and take it back to its eclectic and demographically balanced roots. Nothing ever stays the same does it ?!

I had a great time at the sand bar last saturday. The excellent dj set consisting of old soul, R&B and hip-hop more than made up for the more than average number of "look-at-me's". The only down side was that it became members and guestlist only at 8.30, but this may hav changed once they had finished serving food. My advice...go there but get there quite early or quite late.
