Went here last night for the first time. And I've got to say, it was like a breath of fresh air. Good surroundings, good people and also reasonably priced beer which is surely a first for City pubs. My friend Trev came with me. He's a man of the cloth and had a craking time. He had as many forks as he could handle, without staff even batting an eye-lid. All in all, good pub. I'll definitely be going back. 8 on 10. Harvor - 4 Jul 2008 09:34
In last Friday and for some reason no where near as full as usual. Service is still as good as ever and the landlord must be one of the best in town Wheel154 - 6 May 2008 12:12
I notice I first reviewed the Magpie in September 2004. Things have not changed, full of suits but swift service, excellent Tim Taylor Landlord and still a good alternative to the Railway, Hamilton and the Bull. danrkelly - 18 Mar 2008 16:09
Great little city pub with an authentic atmosphere. Good selection of real ales - Timothy Taylors, London Pride, Greene KIng's IPA and presumably a guest beer which was Adnams Bitter. We were there on a Monday night and after 7pm the place was not at all crowded. jamessquire - 12 Feb 2008 09:06
A short distance from the hell that is Hamilton Hall on a Friday night, it was a pleasure to come here. Yes, it's very busy mainly with 'suits' but you know that the beer you'll be served with from the efficient staff will be in good order. Timmy Taylors Landlord is always OK, as was the current guest beer Everards Yule Fuel. canastajim - 15 Dec 2007 09:53
