A friendly place that is always worth popping in when in the area and making a special trip to for some of the live bands they have on at weekends. Bands like Echoes (Pink Floyd) and Thin White Duke (David Bowie) bring in the crowds. Matthew_of_Ham - 27 Nov 2011 21:40
Now one of my favourite pubs in the area as being an ex local I know most people in there so of course I enjoy it more! Looking at it objectively the pub is in a very accessible location due to being on the main road from Richmond to Kingston. Nice looking pub, with tables out front, a side bit and a small car park out back. Inside its a nice down to earth pub, populated by locals and people passing through. Very laid back and relaxed atmosphere and the bar staff are good natured, friendly and happy to serve. I have not eaten there, but what I have seen looks good! They have comedy nights and live music nights regularly and its rammed when they happen. They get good talent in and its great fun. They have all the sports channels available on TVs and a large projector screen. Also they show football games in 3D whenever possible (not sure if I like it though!). Thumbs up. The beer is good, usual collection of lagers and ales, bar snacks and shorts etc. And as mentioned by someone else, this is one pub you NEVER get trouble in. I have never seen any aggro ever in this place. The staff and locals do not and would not tolerate it. khisanth - 2 Aug 2011 09:34
Petersham is the kind of picture-postcard London village that one imagines is populated solely by the uber-wealthy, so it was a bit of a surprise to find this very down-to-earth locals' boozer on the main road. The pub has a garden out the front, and inside is divided into two parts: a main bar and a side room off to the left with a dartboard and some games machines. Only one handpump, dispensing GK IPA on my visit. This is an OK pub, but not as good as its average rating suggests - I give it 5/10. grecian - 23 Jul 2009 10:10
Reading the reviews concerning the Fox & Duck, I am very surprised in the way in which it has been slated by a minority few. But the majority have got the place spot on!! Its a great pub! Maybe not really a pub but a super place to socialise and chill out with friends. I have been there on many occasions, especially on Band nights as they are quality, second to none. There are not many pubs in this area or even further afield that have such great bands performing every saturday night. The bands range from Rock & Roll to Motown to Jazz, the list goes on and on. Atmosphere is always lively. Trouble?? Never!! Not tolerated by staff or by punters. If you are a sport fan of any kind, then they have 3 TV's, big screen too!! Always happy to show any game at any time. And when Premiership football games are on you can always expect a full house. They are one of few pubs that have both Sky Sports and Setanta Sports legally shown. They have a pool table which is only £1 a game, not many tables that cheap anymore, also a games machine and a dart board. The landlady is always looking for new and refreshing ideas to bring in new faces to the pub, from what i saw last week when i was there, they are in the process of re-decorating. It's a big improovement, looks great, thought i was in a different pub. Always clean and tidy. They also have a good range of lagers and beers with snacks always available. No food from what I have seen, but then again its not the largest of pubs to accomodate a dining area. Possibly a weekend kitchen through the warm summer weeks would be a great addition. I always make sure the Fox & Duck is high on my list of venues when I intend to go out for a drink, whether its for a quiet night or an evening of entertainment. Never leave disappointed. scouse9 - 3 May 2009 17:28
