Petersham is the kind of picture-postcard London village that one imagines is populated solely by the uber-wealthy, so it was a bit of a surprise to find this very down-to-earth locals' boozer on the main road. The pub has a garden out the front, and inside is divided into two parts: a main bar and a side room off to the left with a dartboard and some games machines. Only one handpump, dispensing GK IPA on my visit. This is an OK pub, but not as good as its average rating suggests - I give it 5/10.

Reading the reviews concerning the Fox & Duck, I am very surprised in the way in which it has been slated by a minority few. But the majority have got the place spot on!! Its a great pub! Maybe not really a pub but a super place to socialise and chill out with friends. I have been there on many occasions, especially on Band nights as they are quality, second to none. There are not many pubs in this area or even further afield that have such great bands performing every saturday night. The bands range from Rock & Roll to Motown to Jazz, the list goes on and on. Atmosphere is always lively. Trouble?? Never!! Not tolerated by staff or by punters. If you are a sport fan of any kind, then they have 3 TV's, big screen too!! Always happy to show any game at any time. And when Premiership football games are on you can always expect a full house. They are one of few pubs that have both Sky Sports and Setanta Sports legally shown. They have a pool table which is only £1 a game, not many tables that cheap anymore, also a games machine and a dart board. The landlady is always looking for new and refreshing ideas to bring in new faces to the pub, from what i saw last week when i was there, they are in the process of re-decorating. It's a big improovement, looks great, thought i was in a different pub. Always clean and tidy. They also have a good range of lagers and beers with snacks always available. No food from what I have seen, but then again its not the largest of pubs to accomodate a dining area. Possibly a weekend kitchen through the warm summer weeks would be a great addition. I always make sure the Fox & Duck is high on my list of venues when I intend to go out for a drink, whether its for a quiet night or an evening of entertainment. Never leave disappointed.

This is a lovely pub. Friendly staff always welcoming, relaxed atmosphere and a great place to bring my children. They also have live music nights which are a lot of fun.

The Fox and Duck seems to be heading in the right direction. Not only is it the only pub to have Sky Sports and Setanta legally in the area, but it has started to have live bands every Saturday. There is a rumour of jam nights also starting soon. However, it doesn't serve food - and to be honest, it really isn't needed as the Dysart and the New Inn have an established and sucessful restaurant just around the corner. Currently, it is the cheapest pub in the area by over 20p for some pints and thankfully the quiz machine has been updated and pool table re-clothed. There is room for improvements, such as refurbishment but it is quite an old-fashioned pub with an open fire. Read a few comments below about the staff, I have never had any problems with them - they are always friendly and down-to-earth towards me.
