went to this pub a couple weeks back after a walk along the river with my partner............ WHAT A VILE PLACE! I sat in the garden while my partner got the drinks and there was a group of young people smoking a joint, bit surprised as staff were walking in and out of the garden and didnt say anything... my partner then came out and was embarrased to repeat what the disgusting man behind the bar had just said to his mate "you can smell the fanny from here" as if that wasnt bad enough he then walked across to the table where the group where smoking and started to smoke a joint and downed a pint of beer. Our food then arrived STUCK to a napkin. We asked for our money back and left very quickly.... ashame as this has the potential to be a fantastic pub. bumbalina - 11 Jun 2009 18:17
The decor looks very tired and dated, like a 80s Harvester. The ranges of beers is limited and the pint of Old Brewery Bitter that I had was not very appetising (this used to be my regular drink) or full. Cannot see a reason to go there. Matthew_of_Ham - 14 Mar 2009 18:36
The Rose of York is an awesome pub. It's fairly quiet and a bit far down the road but has great service and comfortable accomodation. slamminsarah - 25 Feb 2009 17:05
Hate to do this but note Iloverichmond's spelling and grammar, ergo "staff is [are]..a specially [especially the!] polish...It is [a!] very familiar place...spanding [spending] my time there etc etc. As they say in London, for Gawd's sake, why didn't you just admit you're Polish and hence get on with the Polish bar staff. And let's be realistic, Polish bar staff don't give a fig about pleasantries to British customers in general do they. declan88 - 12 Feb 2009 19:59
OK rooms at a reasonable rate (if you can get them before the contractors do.) Good basic cooking. Other than the usual SS offerings, not much on the tap but you can always fall back on SS's bottled range. Great nook & cranny interior with leafy beer garden. I have stayed here several times with my family and the staff & management have always been great. Worth it just to wake up and see the cattle grazing in Petersham Meadow. threeravensmoor - 15 Jan 2009 12:59
