| Not sure if the Moderation is a pub or the Bangkok branch of Laura Ashley. Lots of Buddhas, leopard print and orchids. Some nice sensitive chaps were enjoying rugger whilst reading the broadsheets. Jumpers round shoulders and doing crosswords. I ordered a pint and spent half an hour being utterly baffled. I still am. Probably a great pub if you are Laurence Llewelyn Bowen. | I'm going to miss the Mod so much! It's my local but I'm moving away. It's a really really great pub. When you first walk in you might think the decor's a bit odd for a pub but once you get past that, the atmosphere's wonderful, everyone seems happy and friendly. Most of the time when I go it's full but not so full you can't find a table, and the oustide space is lovely too. The food is great - especially the thai food, the beer (I've heard, I don't drink beer) is good quality and I have a good time every single time I go there. The quiz on a Sunday is tons of fun, and does a really good job of staving off those back to work blues. I hope I find an equivalent... Meerkat0183 - 27 Jul 2011 13:04 |
| Adore this pub. Great food, and great value with different offers on each night of the week, e.g. Ruby Tuesday = Thai curry and a Tiger beer/glass of wine for £6! Smart interior and lovely bar staff. kitty6666 - 1 Nov 2010 00:31 |
| I'm a fan of the Mod. The food is usually good, reasonably priced for its quantity and quality. Every time I've been there, the beer is good and the garden is great on a warm evening. Same owners as the Lyndhurst and the Warwick Arms, used to have the Spring near Theale. Not a grungy pub with a big telly, but if you're going out in a group, it fits the bill well. ewand - 17 Jan 2010 21:15 |
| Doesn't feel at all like a pub to me. Has very little atmosphere and the beer has been of dubious quality on each of the three occasions that I've visited. Certainly wouldn't rush back. cheshirecat - 21 Oct 2009 10:03 |
