This is a top-notch boozer with a selection of beers from either the handpumps or the traditional Scottish font. I had several pints of Fyne Ales "Jarl" which is a fantastic beer. This was quickly followed by their "Avalanche" - again superb. The bar is a single room with "Greek" influenced decor; loads of old brewery and whisky mirrors and bric-a-brac and a great mix of clientele. It was also very handy (a bit too handy at times) for our hotel down the road (Premier Inn) and it is a short walk from Haymarket station. Very highly recommended.

Visited on Saturday 26 Nov 2011. Went in the morning as first stop on pub crawl before and after fitba at Tynecastle. So good that we stayed all morning and returned for post-match happiness. Everything about this pub is first class. Beer, interior, staff, customers, seating all 10 out 0f 10. One word of warning, they don't open on Saturday till 12:00 although the notice showing licencing hours shows 11:00. Well worth the wait though. And the steak pie is trully awesome.

Great little pub with well kept panelling, mirrors and old posters of brews present and long gone. Staff were very friendly and the beers, mainly from Scottish micros, very well kept. Handy for a pint or three prior to trying Chop Chop Chinese restaurant experience a little way down th road....!

Great one roomed city pub. Minimal food, which I prefer to those all-singing all-dancing all-frozen menus. Friendly staff. Great place to sit and read the paper or have chat during the day. I imagine it is a different creature by night.

Very good city pub, efficient bar staff, nice plain interior with brewery and distillery ephemera on the walls. Plenty of ale choice, mostly local Scottish beers. Excellent steak pie too. Clearly popular with local office staff at lunchtime. Well worth a walk from the central tourist area, a haven at festival time.
