Another of the Nicholson's chain with an impressive range of handpulled beers although on my visit they only had two Scottish ales on. However, the manager did say he had more in the cellar. The pub is well-furnished and the staff polite and the service good. Food is available thoughout the day but a previous reviewer obviously had an issue with timing so best to check. This is a very handy pub for Haymarket station and the airport bus stop (and one day the tram - if it ever gets running). I would recommend this bar rather than Ryries which although nearer doesn't always have real ale available. mcroyal - 12 May 2012 18:08
The sign on the door still says food served until 9.00pm, although the kitchen seems to close at 8.30! Two people were allowed to order their food at 8.27! Good ales, well kept, and we found the staff to be very good, though some were more chatty than others. Good all round pub. lutefisk - 2 Nov 2009 17:18
expensive and very touristic! good sports telly though! boozybrown - 28 Jun 2007 09:41
A good meeting point for a night in town. Ales are generally up to scratch and I've always found the bar pretty well staffed. Excellent atmosphere when the football's on so imagine it'd be the same for the rugger. No chance of getting a seat when Scotland are playing but there are so may TVs you literally get a good view from anywhere in hear. My one criticism would be that sometimes they leave the music on with the football on mute but then I guess the world doesn't really revolve around us sports fans! Donalia - 21 Jan 2007 13:31
| Good Beer, shame about the staff. Mainly tourists drinking in here, locals tend to avoid it. Reminded myself last time why I don't use it. Wouldn't serve food at 8:55 when it said last food orders 9:00 on the sign. Chucked people out at 11:50 another night when they were supposed to serve until midnight. Plenty of better pubs nearby.
