No Moles beers except a light(er) version of Black Rat cider (brewery page suggests that would only be bottled?), other handpumps had Courage (why oh why?), Spitfire & Sharps Cornish Coaster, and the landlord suggested he hoped to increase the range soon. Indeed the whole pub seemed to be somewhat in transition with evidence of restructuring around a separate pool-table area, and room to front which had its own tv in addition to a plasma to left of bar. Diversions offered in form of games compendium (chess, backgammon etc). Nice leadlight windows at front, beer garden to rear. Not bad, but a work in progress… trainman - 25 Feb 2008 12:38
A really nice cozy pub with friendly staff and some well kept ales on tap. During our visit we really enjoyed a guest ale from Cornwall, called Tribute. It was a recommendation by the woman behind the bar and it was easily one of the best ales I have ever had in England- superb! If you;re in Salisbury, it's a great place to hoist a few pints. fr21555 - 10 Feb 2008 02:39
We liked this pub - good quality cheap beer, good selection. Juke Box was cheap and full of top tunes - pool was also cheap, although the little stick was a pain where the table was too big for the space. Had nice beam features and relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Pretty decent pub - will def. visit again. BB_and_Pumps - 16 Sep 2007 11:56

We've also recently moved (almost 4 months) to Salisbury and have found the Anchor and Hope to be the best pub we've come across so far. Extremely friendly and welcoming bar staff and landlord (Bill), a decent-priced, decent pint of still cider, local Moles ales and quite often, Cornish ales from the St Austell Brewery (this is a definite bonus). The beer garden is great. Sometimes when the TV is going and the music is playing it can become a bit cacophanous and it's a shame there are now two large TVs in the bar area (presumably for the World Cup - does any pub exist where football is banned?!). We've also tried the pizza which is extremely good considering it comes from a pub kitchen! courgettelawn - 28 May 2006 19:51
