Mary The New Manager as of Aug 09 -at last!.
Beer even better, Food Soon, TV Sports and Bands Still Going Strong. Recruiting and Supporting the following teams: Darts, Five A Side, Golf and Pool.
Well worth a visit or revisit, if you are in the area.

No atmosphere, I really would not like to go back there again anytime soon....Avoid.

Been in there a few times but quite a while ago. The live bands were cool - playing Metallica. I seemed to recall they did kareoke but not sure if that's still the case.

Predominantly more of a young crowd go in there.

Drinks are reasonable. Nothing out of this world but its ok.

Its ok. Big, clamourous place - favoured by the younger crowd (though largely confined to the second bar).
Was a live covers band playing when I was last there. The lead singer blatantly didn't know the words to 'Vertigo'. Pub singing at its best - Vic Reeves would have been proud.

Most Friday's and Saturdays its live music at the Lord Napier with some of Essex's top bands incl: Expose, East of Java and Undercover in this large pub. Cheap beer, friendly staff and guvnor Tom adds a lovely touch of Irishness to the pub with a hearty smile and a good sense of humour.
