This is a lovely pub with a gorgeous garden. Definitely one of the best pubs in the area and beers are well kept according to my beer guzzling husband! Good food too! Negatives? Well it is a bit clicky and you don't exactly get a warm welcome from the staff who are rather on the brusque side. Definitely worth a visit cindydee25 - 18 Jun 2009 20:19
still one of the best pubs in this part of kent. garden has been extensively replanted and looks lovely. great selection of guest ales and ever present superbly kept courage best & directors. only place i know where the chips are still hand cut and peeled and better for it. if you have never been put it on your list dockyarddave - 5 Jun 2009 08:41
Well worth the few minutes wander from the High Street to visit this lovely pub and beer garden. A real traditional pub of the type that have too often disappeared. Beers always in good condition. Not exactly the friendliest of bars, but have never seen any trouble here. The relatively new owners don't quite have the style and friendly welcome of their predecessors, but that is being a bit picky! Highly recommended beerquaffer40 - 9 May 2009 21:51
A very good, traditional pub. It feels homely and welcoming with it's olde worlde appearance and decor. The clientele always seem to be good-natured and friendly with not a hint of trouble in sight. It captures the feel of Rochester perfectly which so many others in the area fail to do - it looks and feels like part of history. The staff always seem cheerful and clearly enjoy working there which is a refreshing change. In the summer, the excellent and thoughtfully maintained beer garden is well worth a visit. Overall, it is well worth venturing out of the high street to find this little gem. Dunmall - 18 Jan 2009 10:31
An excellent pub with good beers, an ample pleasant garden and good staff. A great Sunday afternoon pub before nipping home for your dinner. Also fine of an evening. No frills, just a decent pub. phoneking1 - 15 Dec 2008 10:15
