Pleasant and friendly, the Timothy Taylors Golden Best was good but expensive (£2.50)

Nice little place. Beers usually good and the food is a step up from the Navigation across the road, though not quite as cheap. It's still true about "your face not fitting" and trouble getting served, especially at weekends. The location is good for transport as the buses to Altrincham and Manchester are just over the road and it's an easy 5 minute walk to the Metrolink tram at Navigation Road for both journeys (when it's up and running again - SUPPOSEDLY in September!). There are restuarants and take-outs over the road. The beer garden is faily secluded but you'd probably only use it in the 2 weeks of summer we get! My relatives stayed here and said the rooms had character (in a good way!) and the service very good. I'm told they have cheesy live vocalists and kareoke some nights so choose wisely! All in all worth at least a pint

Have yet to revisit since the smoking ban came in as prior to that it was always "cosy". Agree that it always seemed hard to get served too but we're talking a few years ago.

Rarely out in this neck of the woods in the evening and we tend to go in the Navi if out in the afternoon as the kids are OK in there (plus the cheap boddies)

Always had a reputation for excellent food although I can't comment

I believe the "Broadheath Belles" swoop on unsuspecting young males, you have been warned

Definitely a place where it’s a case of ‘if your face fits’ that said it is a nice little pub with a great character and excellent food, one of very few left! the only down side is, if like most normal people, you only go out a couple of times a week and don’t want to spend every night in the same four walls, its highly unlikely that you will treated that well, the bar staff are indeed very friendly, but you tend to pick up on the fact that they don’t really want you drinking in there, a bit hard some will say but try it for yourself.. I will say that the positives of this place far outweigh the negatives so give it a whirl.

Very cliquey place, but once your face fits it's Ok.
Good atmosphere in winter, though, due to it being quite cosy.
