A return visit after after a couple of years, nothing had changed which is a good thing. Nothing special but a good honest boozer. Shepherd Neame beers, all in good condition. As two years earlier the the landlord made a point of comming over to our table for a chat, a very likable geezer the only downside to the vist was he said that after being there 33 years he was thinking of chucking it in, that would be a great shame. Hope to visit again and hope the govnor's still there.

Away from the bustle and noise of Old Street, overlooked by flats and factories, this place seems like it's escaped from the set of Minder. Inside two blokes prop up the bar; one breaks away to serve me. There's a pile of sandwiches for sale and that's your lot food-wise. This is a proper pub - I doubt there's a more authentic local this close to the centre of London. Shepherd Neame only, unfortunately, and a bit pricey even for the area but the sort of pub that should be preserved - a definite use it or lose it.

Old school one roomed boozer that sticks out a bit from the surrounding flats/car parks/offices. A quiet oasis minutes from the bustle around Old Street. However it's a Shepherd Neame house only selling their wares and although the Whitstable IPA was as good as you'll get it I didn't fancy another pint of it.

An excellent pub, tucked away between Pitfield St. and Old St/City Rd. with a nice selection of Shepherd Neame beers on tap. Dixie, the guv'nor, is a real gem and a very gracious host. I hope this place stays around for many more years and doesn't go the way of so many other local boozers in the area.

I always drop in here for a couple of pints when in the area, having first wandered past when a nearby job interview was cancelled at the last minute. I saw the SN sign and couldn't resist. The ales are very well kept, the service is fast and efficient, and the general atmosphere is very friendly.
