| fair to middling pub bearing in mind close location to wembley stadium do a good job and the beer isnt as bad as you might think it could be.expect plastic pots to drink out of though goes with the territory esp when stuff going on nearby.service was pretty good as well. been in a lot worse for sure. mintyfc - 25 May 2009 14:42 |

| We have had some bad experiences in this Pub, we booked two Christmas lunches here. the first year we had a corked bottle of wine which the Landlord refused to exchange. The second year, despite visiting the pub and making several phonecalls to order wine and other requirements etc, our reservation was suddenly forgotten the day before our Christmas lunch was planned. | One of the better options if attending events in Wembley if only because it is located away from the main traffic and has a fairly spacious interior that is more geared to dealing with crowds. I also believe that this is one of the few pubs in the area that does not exploit its customers and hike up the prices on event days although I have only been here once since the new stadium opened so I hope it hasn’t taken lead from its some of tis neigbours. Built at a time when the area was rapidly expanding, the Torch is well suited for the area but doesn’t really have anything of intrinsic merit to warrant much more than a passing pint. The carpeted interior is typical pub by numbers, bland and plastic but hardy and functional. Several TV screens are dotted about and there are some interesting old photos with a Barras Brewery theme (now part of Scottish & Newcastle). A separate games room has yet more TVs , 2 pool tables and a few quiz / fruit machines. The only ale was Courage Best but it was cheap and decent enough quality and more than you will find in most of its competitors. The menu was a typical 2 for £8 pub grub selection. If the inside is too packed, there are plenty of benches outside on the decking and also a rather untidy beer garden. | visited this pub before england v brazil, quite impressed considering how close it is to the ground. beer garden was packed but fairly quiet inside which meant it didnt take long to get served (although we did buy 2 pints each at the same time to avoid any delays), from memory the price wasnt too bad, £11 for 4 pints of fosters (maybe slightly wrong, it was a long day!). hbee - 3 Jun 2007 11:57 |
