| What a fantastic pub. Walked in on the footpath from the canal (about 15 mins). Superb range of ales (seven, mostly micros) and the two we tried were in excellent condition - Joules brewery from Market Drayton and also Thornbridge. Very pleasant welcome from the locals and helpful bar staff. Good atmosphere and comfortable and cosy. Its tucked away off the high street just behind Barclays Bank - and WELL WORTH SEEKING OUT. | Visited twice last week. Beers in very good condition, 3 regulars, 3-4 guests. Sampled Sharps, Backyard Brewery, Moorhouses, Woodlands and Blue Monkey. Good food, well prepared basic dishes. Would definitely visit again. Just be aware closes between 2-30 and 6pm, rather like Whitchurch. stoatface - 7 Jul 2010 18:07 |

| I have been visiting this pub since `1984 when in was owned by Borders who were taken over by Marstons. The beer has always been good. The pub was transformed by Colin the recently retired landlord who introduced really good food. It is now independently owned, continues to do good food and a very good selection of good beers. I enjoyed several points of Sharpes Doombar yesterday lunchtime and would happily have stayed there the rest of the day! Do not hesitate to give this pub a visit, excellent! cookian - 31 Jan 2010 13:26 |
