Just had the one on the way back to the B&B.
Asked what a particular beer was like, barmaid didn't know or particularly care.
Anyway the two we had were excellent and the place was a typical boozer which suits us fine. Choice of about five.

Well-appointed and pleasantly spic and span pub on the main road north out of town to the A1. Good mixture of people using the pub and though ESPN sport monopolised a big screen (silently) on a Saturday night, this did not detract from the chatting mixed pub clientele. The staff are efficient and the beer quality exemplary, as well as interesting in its variety. Does accommodation - consult their website. Worth a visit if in the town or en route on the nearby A1

One of my most frequent port of call in the town - an ever-changing choice of 7 real ales with 3 regulars and 4 guests, many from small and micro-breweries. Usually also a selection of several real ciders and perries. Two excellent beer festivals annually, with "inside" beer from handpumps and the cellar and "outside" beers from a bar in the beer garden. Recent news that the long-term landlord Tony Shilling will be leaving soon is a worry - will standards be maintained after his departure?

Visited the Green Man during it's recent beer festival. Love the place anyway, but with the beer festival going on the place really exceeded itself. Friendly staff ( who knew about the beers on offer ) and a friendly atmosphere. Almost goes without saying that the beer was in excellent condition. The place was heaving on a saturday lunchtime, but the staff were totally in control. Can't recommend highly enough.

Brilliant beer festival with well kept ales from bar, outside stillage and cellar runs. Good food and great company too. Friendly pub. First one on a pub crawl yesterday, so couldn't linger.
