New to the area, my husband and I were looking for a cozy place for a good meal, and as we had been to The Bell with a celebratory party in July, we chose to come here. We were offered a tiny table in a doorway, and had no sooner settled when we were asked to order our food. We had not seen the menu yet, but as soon as the menu was produced, we were asked to make a choice. This person had no sooner left our table with a polite request to leave us to decide on our meal, when another appeared at our side and demanded to know what we would eat. As we had not even been allowed enough time to READ through the limited and expensive menu, nor had we tasted our drinks by this stage, we decided to leave them to their rush (only another 3 couples in the pub and we were harassed by at least 4 different serving people at the time) to move somewhere else to enjoy our evening in a more congenial atmosphere. A very disappointing welcome and we will not go there again. Unfortunately, to literally add injury to insult, as we left in pelting rain, my husband ran into a tow bar in the very dark car park and injured his shin badly - this is still not healed, two weeks after the incident. All in all, one of the worst experiences we have had in this area.

A pleasant country pub serving decent beer. Nice beer garden.
Can't comment on the food.

That's strange! No reviews for over two years, perhaps the owners have changed hands. I know it is still there cos I went to a beer festival there in August 2008.We were unable to stay very long because it rained badly and everyone tried to go to the pub bars. So crowded we gave up.

A great pub, good food, friendly service. When we arrived the main restaurant was fully booked but they were polite and friendly, finding a table for us in the bar area. The food was good, arrived quickly, and the service remained friendly throughout the meal. Very enjoyable.

Brilliant Welcome from Jeremy and Lucy who obviously love what they do. Fantastic real ale and the food is great too (although a change of menu now and again wouldn't go amiss). The great thing is that you'll still be as warmly welcomed even if you're just having a drink
