This was a once absolutely wonderful pub, with a cider barn that was just a pleasure to spend an afternoon in. It is now been renovated to attract the wealthy London set, and is ghastly beyond words.

As others have said - great traditional country pub, good beer and appears popular for food (tho' I've not sampled it myself. Lovely garden and courtyard. Well worth a visit

Great pub, full of genuine character, Butcombe straight from the barrel behind the bar where there is a fantastic mural painting of the local area. We did go there primarily for the Sunday lunch (2 courses for 12-50) which was brilliant, great food and very good service.

I don't know what there is not to like about this pub, good job it's 20 miles from where I live as if it was closer I'd spend far too much time in there, it'd cost me a fortune & I'd have to get trousers with elasticated waistbands!
They do have some very nice rooms to let either B&B or on hotel basis, maybe that's the way to go..........

Quintessential English coaching inn.

I stayed here Last friday and i have to say the Atmosphere was perfect ! the owner was more than welcoming and with in 5 minutes knew all are names (there were 15 of us). The beer was in good condition and the price was ok given our surrounings/service. Now we come to the Food , i had Scallops to start and can tell you they were the best i have had and ive eaten them in some of the best restaurants around! Everone had Steaks for Main and they all come out exactly as ordered . Accomadation was cosy and clean so please if your ever near the area visit this place i cant recommened it high enough
