Went in there for a few pints while the wife was out shopping, because we noticed the 'husband creche' sign out on the walk. Looks small from the outside, but has two seating areas inside and was quite cozy. I drank Adnams Broadside, which was a lovely pint. Chap behind the bar was nice and friendly and said the pub was up for sale as the brewery wanted to sell it, which is a pity. Nice atmosphere in there, the people seemed nice and chatty. Ill be going back there again next time I'm in the city. Very nice pub :)

Looks lovely from outside, inside very small with a dull choice of ales. I opted for L Pride @ £3.20pint! The pub was freezing too but it was in mid Jan i guess.....6/10

Ah, the SGW! Used to go in here many moons ago back in the day when such old classics as the Fruiterers was doing its stuff!

Right: bar staff were friendly but seemed 'edgy'. The reason for this soon became apparent as the guvnor' called from his top floor lair (on the phone natch) and admonished one of them for some minor oversight to do with shifting 'customers' off the outside tables. This seemed to be a real pre-occupation with him during the time we were there. A small family group sat at one of the tables and drinks were duly bought; suddenly, the guv appeared on his upper balcolny and began ranting at the family to take action as their son had insidiously taken to eating a small jar of cockles ... bought from a nearby market stall! For a moment, I thought I was in a scene from Oliver, as 'Bill Sykes' raged from above. What a dreadful and bullying character -- awful.

I'll not be going back, primarily to avoid having to look into the fear filled, supine eyes of the terrified bar staff!

From the outside this looks like a fairly large pub, dominating Norwich's busy market place. However, inside it's tiny- not much bigger than the late lamented Vine on the other side of the market square, but without the charm. Only one real ale was on offer- Greene King IPA at a hefty £2.90 a pint. Unfortunately it had proved beyond the ability of the landlord to keep even this one beer in drinkable condition, and I was basically presented with a pint of malt vinegar. I'm usually one of those foolish uncomplaining types who will put up with a pint of beer that's 'on the turn', but this particular pint was completely undrinkable. Unsurprisingly there were few other customers, just a trio of teenagers who were sharing a single pint of coke- which probably tasted much better than my 'beer'. I was lucky enough to spend a couple of weeks working in Norwich and to have the opportunity to visit several of the many excellent pubs in the city- but this grubby little pub with its vile beer certainly wasn't one of them.
