Just had time to call in to get four take out beers in the flagon. Unfortunately the bar maids decided they could not sell take out beer, something to do with the licence........ I told them I had got take out beer all over the UK, and in all probability the licencing laws are no different in Norfolk to anywhere else. This cut no ice with the teenage bar maids, so l left. 2/10

After a very disappointing visit to Number 12, we moved onto the Sir Garnet. This is a pub overlooking the very interesting market. We wandered through the market afterwards and the food selection looked very enticing. The pub itself has a number of different levels for seating, with toilets downstairs. 3 ales were on - Adnams Old Ale, Lacons Saint Nicks & Joc's Norfolk Kiwi. A busy place where it was not possible to get comfortable. We only noticed the third level of seating as we were about to leave, after having stood.

I've lived in Norwich for over 20 years, there are so many good pubs it is difficult to. visit them all.

I went to the Sir Garnet for Sunday lunch today. The beef was lovely and tender. Had a lovely pint of Bullard's Amber. There was one other real ale on - can't remember which.

Just on the edge of Norwich market which makes for a different view than from most pubs. I will return soon.

Watch the sun go down over Norwich market after an oyster or two at the market stall outside. Great pub.

19:00 Ordered a pint of Lacons Encore. It was as cloudy as soup. I asked to exchange it and then the argument started. "It's fresh on", "It's supposed to look like that", "It's from a new local brewery you may not be familiar with it". I told him I had been round the brewery and met the brewer but that cut no ice. It was getting quite heated before he gave in and gave me a different pint. I would have demanded a refund and walked out but my wife had got her drink. Luckily Norwich is blessed with a choice of good pubs so I won't need to darken these doors again.
