Brisk lunchtime trade today, excellant as always...nothing ordinary about this youngs pub!!!

2nd pub of my evening, walking up from the river to the station. Popped in and checked the menu. They had steak on for £14, so I went for it. Served incredibly quickly and was allright. Service was very good and they checked that everything was ok. Liked the look of the courtyard, which included a TV with the footie on.

Friendly enough on a busy Sunday afternoon, and a decent drop of (the now sadly debased) Youngs but a bit of a gloomy interior.

In a town dominated by Youngs pubs, I think this is one of the better ones. The interior is still fairly traditional and the welcome is generally friendly. Youngs Ordinary, Special and Winter Warmer was the choice for real ale fans. There is a courtyard out the back, presumably for smokers or summer drinking. On a wintry Thursday, we chose to stay inside.

Very expensive, even by Richmond standards, and feels rather grimy and claustrophobic. There are better, cheaper, nicer places to get a decent pint within walking distance: Prince's Head, Waterman's Arms etc.
