A well hidden little gem of a pub. I have visited Dawlish, probably, hundreds of times but never fouind this pub. Tucked down a little street close to the Station, along with the Railway. Both pubs having very old style signs streaching across the (narrow) street. The Exeter has a large menu and Shandy Chica and I both enjoyed the Steak and ale pie. Large portions and very tasty. Really good to proper chips on offer. That is out of a spud, not a bag in the freezer. Well kept pint of Henry's IPA to go with it. Cosy interior with exposed beams and bags of character. Will definatly be visiting again. captaineric - 22 Jan 2012 14:46
The Exeter Inn is Open, offering a fantastic range of Ales and Food. Local Seafood a speciality and Local Devon Crab. Steak and Ale Pie delicious, good range of Vegetarian dishes too. luckylocky - 13 Oct 2011 16:20
Dawlish's oldest pub (so it says) down a narrow alley close to the station, full of atmosphere and history and locals. Otter ale was in good nick, seemed to do a lot of seafood on the menu as befits a seaside town. Well worth missing a train for. Hodge1 - 3 Oct 2011 06:27
A well positioned pub if you are using the railway station. Me and my girlfriend were in there late one night before getting the last train home, I asked the landlady where the ladies toilets were and she gave me a key for my girlfriend, apparantly they are locked up outside in the alley! Made us chuckle a bit though. My rating 8/10 montie49 - 2 Aug 2011 17:12
If you are in Dawlish and looking for a fine place to eat then I can definitely recommend The Exeter. Located in an alleyway opposite the station it has a real country pub feel in the centre of town - I had the steak and ale pie which I have to say was the best I have ever had, and I have had a few!! Partner had scallops which were also delicious and cooked to perfection. Good selection of ales and lagers, the only thing it was missing was a Devon scrumpy!!! DryOrMedium - 12 Jun 2011 08:32
