One of the best country pubs there is very friendly with nice food and good beer, only downside is it can be cold in the winter with only one fire limited other heating so pick the right day in the winter but you will enjoy this pub.

Had the pleasure of visiting The Bell 3 times last week. Had the best kept pint of Adnams Bitter I have ever had. Knowledgeable and charming landlords, Charles and Sarah are doing a fantastic job with this lovely 16th Century pub. Although very much a drinkers' pub, they serve simple, well-executed home cooked food (great steak) that is also good value. After the pub was apparently operating as a "wine bar", Charles and Sarah took over in November 2009 and have re-instated The Bell as a proper pub catering for locals and passing trade with aplomb. Highly recommended.

After being under the same stewardship for several years and having had a good reputation during that Landlords tenure, this large and attractive Pub has had a bit of a rough time of late, However just before Christmas 2007 , a young couple took it on and early signs are very encouraging, The guest beers that I have tried have been of a very high standard, the decor is looking brighter and cleaner, and the menu is enticing though not tested as yet.
Good Luck to them.
