| Love this pub. The food is always fantastic - last Sunday 14 Feb. had spanish squid stew which we ate outside in the sunshine - absolute heaven. Always friendly with excellent range of guest beers and good wines. Dogs are very welcome which makes a change and there is a beautiful river walk just over the road to enjoy before or after. | A proper pub with with locals sitting around supping their pints and dogs enjoying the company.Friendly helpful staff and a good selection of food on the blackboard menu with many of the items available as starters or mains. | This is about as good as it gets. One of my regular haunts. At least 5 different ales on every week, always in excellent condition. Great atmosphere, with live music a couple of times a month. V popular with locals, friendly bar staff to boot. Dogs welcome, if well behaved. Plastic for payment of bills is utterly unwelcome, as are mobile phones. | What a great pub for enjoying your an ale. Sit by a fire, watch the dogs, drinkers, diners, and choose from at least 5 ales. No pumps, the staff goes in the back room to fetch your pint. The current ales have their badges on a pole behind the bar, the coming soon ales have their badges on another pole. You know you are in a proper country pub when you have to head outside for the gents. In case you get too worried on your way there the fresh, festive paint job will cheer you on your way.
