Can't believe how this place has gone down- it used to be a friendly backstreet pub. Now its half full of loud blokes giving bull about how much they supposedly earn or spend. This ,along with stupidly high prices for average beer and their habit of serving afore mentioned loud-mouths before anyone else gives an impression of a masonic lodge rather than a welcoming pub.The front room also smells of smoke. There are now quite a few better pubs in Sutton, which are also chav free but far more welcoming and where people drink (with genuinely high incomes) but chose to keep quiet about it. radfot - 17 Jan 2010 18:06
Undoubtedly one of my favorite pubs in Sutton. It's a real no-nonsense, old school drinking establishment. The Duke is how all city back-street pubs should be, where it's still possible to strike up a conversation with a stranger in the snug. When it's saturday night in Sutton and you've had enough of ear-splitting music and groups of loud women out on a hen night - there is always The Duke. The outdoor seating area is large but very under-used it seems. jaylorn - 21 Oct 2009 12:24
Nice pub. Does a great pint of Deuchars. The beer garden is huge and not very well known. Only drawback is the price - one of the more expensive pubs in the area. jules1974 - 1 Sep 2009 12:49
Brought a mate here on 4 April 2009. Still a brilliant place to drink. The Deuchars was great! generalstaal - 15 Apr 2009 12:27
This is a proper old school drinkers pub. The sort of place where 'everyone knows your name' but is not unfriendly to the casual visitor. It has a nice community feel to it as well with a notice board showing local sporting fixtures and charitable activities. There is a small three sided bar with one side seemingly facing into a corridor with a few snob screens. Three hand pumps I think and I had a decent pint of Deuchars. Millay - 13 Dec 2008 08:59
