Indifferent beer quality. Staff don't tend to hide away so much these days (when the manager is around). Too many chavs!

Fairly decent pint but takes ages to get served, especially on weekends

We still get old fashioned beer mugs and jugs and it's not unusual to have up to 200 people on the premises which includes a large garden - plastic glasses are linked to customers behaviour. Thank goodness the Police and Local Authorities in your area have stepped in, less people in casualty departments ! ps, our pub management get a wide cross section of society (holiday-makers) but have a draconian approach to bad behaviour. An example being, you're out for good on one swear word in some cases and written apologies are not unheard of !

I've been speaking to the bar staff recently about the plastic glasses on weekend nights, its thanks to the police and local council that they have to use them in the beer garden and not the choice of the management. So thats that cleared up.

I got to agree with the person below, the sack is easily sutton's busiest pub and that means your going to get a real cross section of society and age groups. As for this "full of underage drinkers" argument i keep hearing about wetherspoons in general why hasnt the sack or any other spoons been shut down or at least splashed accross the papers because you know it would be if it were the case. The simple answer is that its a load of crap, the people who say "full of underage drinkers" are people who feel uncomfortable in an enviroment where a large number of young adults converse and enjoy them selves. The sack is one of the few places that regualrly ID's people at the bar, go into any other sutton pub/bar/club and you'll be lucky if the staff look at you twice.
"Soul destroying" is sitting on your own in a pub with 5 other people also on their own with the silence only being broken by a cough or a sneeze, something you'll find hard to get at the sack as its nearly always busy. As for the sack being cheap i would say it used to be cheap but now its reaching the prices of other places in sutton and yet its still the busiest place in sutton. So it must be doing something right. Now don't get me wrong there are things i dislike about the sack, for example during the day it can SOMETIMES be like a creche with the amount of pushchairs and kids in there, also as said before the amount of people ordering coffee is stupid, enough said about that. And yes alot of the time there isnt enough staff to handle demand. And finally the music is often too loud at the weekend but during the week its usually at a reasonable level.
So if your so highly strung that you cant enjoy a reasonable priced pint in the company of this countries ever so diverse population, well maybe you should live somewhere else.

I hear Iraq's nice.
