Went in today - sampled the Kent's Best which was really quite bad. Didn't sample the Spitfire. Bar staff friendly and the place was quiet mid-afternoon.

Paid this pub a visit early yesterday afternoon. It's a fairly pleasant Shepherd Neame pub in Mayfair with fairly restrictive opening hours (closed weekends). A few suits appeared during the course of my stay. They were mainly there to watch the football, and were perfectly well behaved. Spitfire and Kent's Best were the 2 real ales on offer. The wooden bar is fairly attractive, and there is a nice decorative fireplace. The floor is carpeted. As you can see in the picture, one part of the pub juts out into the adjacent Hay's Mews. The entrance on the corner of the Mews is tiled. Food & wine menus can be found on each table. They also advertised their sister pub in the City - the Cock & Woolpack.

Two Shepherd Neame real ales, neither of which was very nice. Bizarre seating arrangement at the back of the bar led us to be barricaded in by obnoxious junior management consultant types who obviously had no proper friends.

Otherwise fairly non-descript. Service was quite good.

Nice well lit interior.

Probably not seen at it's best with lots of loud suits in (all navy and grey with no hint at any taste or individuality). 8 'children' who seemed like graduate's recently recruited by Accenture and their ilk were screaming and shouting in the corner and treating the staff like scum (faux far east lager drinkers to boot).

Had Spitfire and Kent's Best on neither in great shape with a rather nasty after taste. One hopes Kent's best is better than that well served.

Worth a 2nd look not on a Friday early evening but beer need to be better.

Entirely unexceptional and probably the better for it.

Lights a bit bright for my delicate complexion.
