Closes on a whim, as it did this week. Don't go out of your way to visit. davidb - 30 Sep 2011 10:19
Popped in for a few pints of a rainy day, very nicely kept Wandle and a not bad butcombe. Cant comment on the food as had just finished lunch before popping in. Staff were more than friendly including the manager and seemed to have a good rapport with people popping for a quick drink. Would pop back if in the area. paddypint - 2 Feb 2010 20:44
Nothing special. The food is expensive and average, ditto the beer, staff are aloof and the atmosphere is pretty flat. It seems to rely on being the local diner for the extremely expensive surrounding houses and flats, which is fair enough but gives very little incentive for anyone else to make the effort. I'm off to the Albion next time... whatbill - 18 Aug 2009 15:54
smart pleasant pub but then there are so many similar places around islington, personal preference i wouldnt rush back in a hurry mostly because the butcombe bitter was not well kept - freezing cold and lifeless a mistake made in so many establishments and the alternative.... Spitfire well thats inspiration (not!) isnt it... moclips2002 - 1 Aug 2009 08:59
The Drapers Arms has reopened under new management! The place has had a major renovation and looks wonderful. The staff are eager to please and enthusiastic. The atmosphere in both the bar and the garden in the rear is very nice. The upstairs dining room looks spectacular. My only minor niggle is that the food underwhelmed a little. Admittedly our expectations were high given the care and attention paid to everything else but the menu was a bit disappointing. It is likely that they'll improve on this as they have only just opened so I'd certainly recommend you go in and try for yourself! fatalastair - 19 May 2009 12:48
