| this pub is missing a trick, although it seems busy enough so they may not see the point in setting things right. there are no real ales, and the pumps they have are not in use, this is weird, when there is such a great local brewing tradition. the bar is decorated in hideous style. the stage is excelelnt and there is good local music going on, why not make the most of it? | I was unfortunate enough to have a drink here; The Command House last Friday afternoon (4th April) and cannot envisage a return visit soon. Situated alongside the River Medway, the pub (well, bar. It was a pub once though) looks enticing enough on the outside and the stage for (presumably) live music is an encouraging sign, but that’s pretty much where the good points end. Upon entering, expect to have your ears insulted by the overly loud music, expect your eyes to flicker in horror at the bodged refurbishment and be prepared to faint at the prices. I kid you not, £3.18 for San Miguel. There were no ales, though two hand pumps were redundant. Decoration, perhaps? Looking around, everything is black. Black plasma screens, leather sofas and tables. The clientele were male dominated and Id expect you’d meet a few from the nearby barracks here. They do serve up the usual pub grub, though like the beer, its not cheap. I wouldn’t bother. HTM69 - 6 Apr 2008 13:38 |
| Went here the other day and was very dissapointed, lovely buolsding all chavved up in terms of decoration, and serving no ales at all that were not bottled. stage outside though, guess this means they have gigs at least. felts like a yates! Mattclary - 18 Dec 2007 15:10 |
| I like this pub, full of the squaddies at time but hey thats all good. Fairly quiet during the day, but then they keep the riff raff out so no complaints there. Fairly nice pub overall! And drinks not badly priced Mazzieboozer - 6 Apr 2007 01:17 |
