When everywhere else is full of tourists you can slip on in here and get yourself a booth ... more local and oh so close to the tube. Good music... and nice staff.

This pub has a interesting range of beers , two real ales which change regulary , at the moment they have Redemption with Dark Star and Magic Rock soon to come . They also have a real cider from Westons with Stowford Press on keg. For lager drinkers they have the local Camden town plus Paulaner. There are two wheat beers and a selection of mostly US bottled beers. The clintele are mostly young .

I was hacked off when they closed the old Tup as it was good for football and I'd only discovered the place about two months before. And when it opened as the Black Heart I thought they'd made a big mistake, mainly because I thought it was going to be a bit too trendy for that particular bit of Camden - I thought it was more suited to the other end up towards Chalk Farm. But I was wrong. Now I'm really pleased it's there because it's the best bar in the area - though frankly it doesn't have much competition - and has improved a lot from when it first opened. The drinks, prices and service are all pretty good, it has an interesting theme, a nice vibe, a decent jukebox and excellent free wi-fi (no password required even!). The location of it means that you don't get too many dickheads and tourists in there (because it's tucked away from the main drag) so most of the punters are people who work and live in the area, and aren't too up themselves. I just hope it stays that way. A big thumbs up.

Not usually a 'bar' person much preferring pubs but this one gets my vote.Great decor, very much like the Mexican cantinas i went to when in Mexico,an excellent range of beers and they even serve real ale which is unusual for a bar.Friendly staff and prices average for Camden.Recommended.

I have to say that I quite like the Black Heart. The bar staff are nicer, better trained and more helpful then they were in the Camden Tup. It's a nice place to retreat to when Camden gets too much to bear.
I for one don't mourn the TV screens as there are plenty of places that show sports and I always found it to be rather anti-social for us non sports fans.
They have quite a few alternative beers (ei. not so much Fosters and Stella please!) and also a good back bar selection of spirits. I think they even have ale, but I can't be sure.

I haven't tried any of their cocktails nor their food so can't say if it's worth a visit for those, but the nice "slowed down" atmosphere is what I go there for.
