Real old fashioned pub with lots of brass. Sat next to the church and a stones throw from the public school. Beer fine and food fabulous. Went at lunch, had a starter and couldn't get through the main meal as whilst it was wonderful, the portion was more than 'genorous' to say the least. My wife, fortunately, suffered the same rather enjoyable experience. Have been before and will go again, throroughly recommended.

My eldest step son used to work here. Very friendly and cosy pub. Excellent food. Fair choice of real ale. Downside is they wouldn't let us take the dogs indoors so not very animal friendly.

What a great night, first Wednesday of the month I mean, Quiz night, excellent food, good ale, and the quizmaster has an excellent sense of humour,

Cosy local pub with friendly atmosphere and good service. Charming, slightly old-skool interior (lots of horse brasses and the like).
Small but well-kept range of Yorkshire ales (Timothy Taylor and Tetley).
Good food at reasonable prices and with large portions. Large menu but most of it seemed freshly cooked to me.
Down a side street by the church, but well worth seeking out.

Excellent pub with a warm welcome. Staff friendly and service good. Food excellent. I had Steak pie which was very good and portions generous. Taylors Landlord and Best also John Smiths which was very good. A little out of the way but well worth the effort. Also do accommodation.
