Lovely traditional pub that is worth braving the steep roads of Robin Hood's Bay for as long as you can keep your footing. The main bar is a gorgeous cramped affair decorated with bric-a-brac that will serve you a world class pint of Adnam's Ghost Ship (or at least it did when I visited!) in a convivial atmosphere enhanced by a nice real fire (which to be fair was overkill on a balmy October day when I called in). The other smaller bar is sparsely decorated but has comfortable seating carved directly out of logs and was mercifully a few degrees cooler. The only downside was of all things the gents toilets, which are outside the pub and consisted of a cramped and grotty room with a single urinal and a barely functioning sink. This is however a minor gripe. An excellent place to stop off for a few jars.

Nice night in here. The Copper Dragon Black Gold was exceptional, one the best pints I've had for a long time. Friendly staff and customers. Can't say locals as I'm now a local myself!

Theakstons Old Peculiar was top notch - don't mind paying a bit extra for well kept beer (not that you should have to).

Beer is very expensive, but Old Peculiar was the best pint I've had in a long time. They obviously really know how to look after it.

Nice and quiet when I was in middle of last week. Cosy rooms. Friendly staff, without being too friendly.

just visited. Beer average and expensive. typical tourist trap I suppose. Not unfriendly but not very welcoming either. Would avoid and try the other 2 pubs nearby. The dolphin was cheaper and better beer despite undergoing work. bay hotel was friendlier and ale was good. Food seemed to be going down well though I didnt eat there.
